Ayra Starr, Rema, Asake Shine at Afro Nation Detroit 2024
Nigerian musicians took centre stage at Afro Nation Detroit 2024, showcasing the global appeal of Afrobeats.
Held in Detroit, Michigan on Saturday, 17 August, and Sunday, 18 August, the festival featured a stellar lineup, including Ayra Starr, Rema, Asake, Kizz Daniel, and Adekunle Gold, who captivated the audience with dynamic performances.
Ayra Starr dazzled fans with powerful renditions of her hit songs, including “Bloody Samaritan” and “Woman Commando,” from her latest album, “The Year I Turned 21”. Her magnetic stage presence and energetic singing demonstrates her status as a rising star in the music industry.
Rema lit up the crowd with hits from his sophomore album, while Asake had the audience bouncing with tracks from his newly released third album. Kizz Daniel and Adekunle Gold also left a lasting impression with their vibrant sets, bringing the essence of Afrobeats to the festival.
The sold-out gig, held at Detroit’s historic Douglass Site, not only celebrated the rising genre but also honoured the city’s rich musical legacy. With Nigerian artists leading the charge, Afro Nation Detroit 2024 highlighted the global rise of African music.
